Can I put a side return on my property?

A side return extension on a house is a popular way to use redundant outside space. You no longer need planning permission for a ground floor side-extension as long as the extension is only single storey, no more than 3 meters high and no wider than half the width of the original house.

What’s the best way of adding maximum value to my house?

Adding square footage to the footprint on the house generally adds more value than interior decoration. Adding a bedroom, bathroom or modernising a kitchen will usually add value to a property even in the current market. However this is only true if space is organised cleverly - poor design won’t add value to your house. A consultation with Avenues Design and Build will help you decide where you should spend your budget for the best return.
